are you connected to a wall charger or pc

    1. if wall charger i would check wire " maybe short etc " try another " a friends or something "
    2. If USB make sure you are in a powered port " if unsure remove usb and try a different port

maybe the cable has packed in, though it still syncs so this would suggest otherwise.

do you have access to another computer you can try charging from?

Do you have a xbox 360, ps3, or wii (might also work with ps2)?

If so, try plugging the usb cable into one of those, and see if your iPod charges. If it does, it just means that your computer's USB doesn't have enough power to charge it.
