Well to start off, I have a 2g 16gb iPod touch with some custom 3.1.2 ipsw. I used blackra1n to jailbreak it and as I expected I was required to run blackra1n on my computer everytime my iPod got turned off. Well randomly one day I noticed when my iPod restarted it didn't have to be plugged up to the computer and worked just fine. Idk how it did that. Was it something I may have downloaded from rock or cydia, or maybe something to do with the custom ipsw somehow morphing lol. Idk? But I'm trying to help out some of my friends that have to plug up their iPod to the computer everytime it restarts, and I would really appreciate it if someone can explain to me how my iPod went from tethered to untethered.

2G's are untethered no matter what. If you model number starts with MB then you can be positive it is a 2G and not an MC 3G.

Well it would always make me plug up to the computer after it restarts or it wouldn't work. And my friend also has a 2g iPod and it makes him do it too.

I highly doubt that if you have a 2G you have to re-run blackra1n. You might 'think' you do, but you don't. What is your model number start with? MB, MC?

Odd. Shouldn't have to do that because there isn't even a 3G 16GB model.

I know it may sound weird and untrue but me and my friend had to run blackra1n on the computer everytime and we both had 2g iPods. his was a 32g though, if it makes a difference.

Ok, so when you turn your iPod off now, can you turn it back off without blackrain?

Yeah, I can turn it back on and it runs just fine. No blackra1n needed anymore.
