    Any suggestions for a newbie?

My Ipod touch will not turn off- I did everything I could - even restore, reset, update. Took it to Apple Store, told me it is most likely a "faulty" on/off button- which "happens, not often, but happens". I bought it October 2008- and do not use it that often at all. I was told it would be $150 to replace- I am so bummed, don't want to buy a new one.

Has this happened to anyone on this Forum?

Applemacguru, how did you get them to replace yours? Was it under warranty still? I have always found Apple wonderful at fixing my mac, support is outstanding. When they told me it would be $150, it surprised me.

If it's out of warranty you will have to pay...

$150 for repairs is expensive, IMO... But like what stu mentioned, you'll have to pay if the warranty has run out...

Btw, I noticed that you bought the iPod at the same time as me, in October 2008... You should have considered the Extended Warranty so that the warranty will only run out in October this year...

Yeah at $150 I would just spring for a new one as well. But on the other hand is it really that big of a deal? I honestly can't remember the last time I actually turned my Ipod off. If I'm not using it it's in sleep mode. As long as you set it to go into sleep mode when you're not using it so the screen is not on draining your battery, I really don't see it as much of a problem. That's just my opinion though.
