Hi, I did everything to try to restore my ipod touch.
    I changed computers(didnt work)
    I restarted my computer(didnt work)
I redownloaded, and reinstalled my iTunes(didnt work)
I changed my usb ports (didnt work)
    I tried different firmwares(didnt work)

This is what happens, I put my ipod to DFU mode, and itunes reconizes it as in recovery mode, I click restore, and when the file completes download it says internet connection timed out.
So, I manually downloaded firmware, and SHIFT+RESTORE and I choose my firmware, and when it is preparing to restoring my ipod turns off and I get error
    mostly 1611, but sometimes 1603 and 1604.

Please if anyone can help me out that would be great.

BTW I have heard that you need usb port 2.0 which I dont have, could that be a problem? and also I have heard that my battery power might be low so thats he reason it may turn off during restoring.

try downgrading to itunes 7.4 and downloading 1.1.1 firmware from somewhere and shift-click and select that, worked for me, i dunno if it'll work for you

and of course the firmware sucks, but its better than nothing, good luck

I've got the same problem too
    I've tried:
    Downgrade to iTunes 7.5
    Use 2.0/3.0/1.1.1 to restore
I have delete all the files that relate with iTunes
    Still can't make it works

Ok disable your firewalls and restore then update with the newest version of i tunes, some firewalls block the update and times out this happened to me a long time ago.
