I jailbroke my ipod touch using the tutorial given on this site.
During the jailbreak it prompted me to select the proper ipsw firmware.
When i unzipped the file that certain firmware was never made!
So i used the firmware given by a different jailbreak as it is also proper.
My ipod touch WILL NOT turn on. The screen is all black.
I tried resting it holding power and home, no go.

When I connect it to my computer it says, Windows cannot recognize software as it is malufunctioned.

    PLEASE HELP!

    Thank you SO much

    Owned.

Your ipod is now officially bricked, go home and cry in the corner. There's no hope at all.

    It's not, idiot.

Just go into DFU mode and restore via Itunes. Or go into DFU mode and try to boot with iRecovery

okay, here's a better explanation I did the jailbreak step by step and it worked fine.
On the last part when it's supposed to reboot and open with itunes it never did it.
Now I'm trying to do the recovery by putting it into boot.bat however it won't go into DFU mode no matter how many times I try.

    dude follow these steps:
    1. Make sure ur speakers r switched on so that u can hear a noise(that dfu noise)
    2. This is a bit different from dfu: after connecting ur ipod to pc, hold both power and dfu buttons. after 10 seconds(whether u hear a sound or not) stop pressing power button and keep pressing the home button until a sound comes(keep holding even if it takes 30 sec) If after 1 min the sound still didn't come, try it again. u'll hear a sound and itunes will open saying ur ipod is in recovery mode. now click shift+restore and select the original firmware(not the custom or jailbroken one). it will work fine although it wont be jailbroken

Now, if u want to jailbreak it tell me which was ur last step?
