I have a ipod touch (1st Gen 8GB) that will not go pass the apple logo. I have tried many fourms on the internet apple the frozen screen and nothing seems to work. The hang up occured after resetting the ipod from the setting menu. Also when you leave the ipod pluged in the computer it wont charge it stays at the apple screen for about 2 minutes, then the dead battery symbol comes up.

put it in DFU mode. hold home and power for ten seconds then release power button and hold home for 30 seconds. your ipod has to be plugged in to your computer when you do this then restore the ipod in itunes when it shows up

Go to a local apple store, make up a lie, and play stupid. Say, "I don't know how why/how this happened." "Could you please restore my ipod for me, my restore won't work." Their iTunes is different from yours. I have done this around 6-8 times.
