I have a second generation 8GB iPod touch I got Sunday with OS 3.1.1. It is model A1288 (the newest). I want to jailbreak it so I need to downgrade. I've tried every guide I could find, and no matter what iTunes version I use, if I put it into DFU mode or not, it WILL NOT WORK. I keep getting error 1600.
(As seen below in iTunes 8.2 Mac)

The earliest software version you can downgrade an iPhone/iPod touch to is the version that was preinstalled. Basically, you can't downgrade.

You'll just have to wait a few weeks for Geohot/Chronic to release their 3.1.1 jailbreaking tools!

I dont know why, but when I clicked restore it asked to "upgrade" to 2.2.1. It's downloading now! I think I solved my own problem! (Although I have no clue what I did) thanks anyways!

Darn. I still got the 1600 error. Anyone have experience in downgrading?
