When I try to turn it on the apple logo appears, hangs around for about 5 seconds before the screen brightens and then about three seconds later it goes white and shuts off again. Then it starts over and over and over and over...Any help appreciated. I think it happened when I turned it off. It sat on the little loading circle thingy for literally half an hour so I held down the power button and it turned off.

Just looking for the instructions now, though if possible I'd like to not have to restore it even though iTunes does all the work for me

Hopefully this thread isn't too deep and someone finds my post. :/
Okay, I have a similar problem to Retro's but mine will not go into DFU mode.
As with his mine will show the apple logo then the screen will brighten and then the device shuts off.

    When trying DFU.

I Plug my iPod Touch 2G in and then quickly hold the Power/home buttons.

A slight pause and then the "Plug into iTunes" Logo pops up and then the device immediately shuts down.

I recently installed a new version of Rock and Cydia.

My device is Jailbroken with Firmware 3.1.2
