I also have a Palm TX that I have to make sure the WiFi radio is turned off so it doesn't keep using the battery. Is this something that I should also do for the iPod Touch? Does it cause that much of a drain if you're not using it, but it is still "on"?

    Thanks

Yes, you can get significantly better battery life if wifi is turned off, That's because if the wifi is turned on it's going to be draining power and trying to search for networks.

So turn wifi off if you will not need it.
    Another big drainer is SSH.
