Earlier today, before I went to my friend's house, I put my iPod in sleep mode and laid in on my desk in my room...fully charged.

I came back about an hour later, tried to turn it on, and nothing happened.
Neither the sleep button nor the home button seem to want to work. So I tried connecting to my computer...and it doesn't detect it.

I tried putting it in DFU mode..nothing
    Restarted computer...nothing

I don't know what to do...and I really don't want to go to Apple and ask for another replacement...they're service is so horrible

Well let's see if you did DFU correctly.

Hold down the home and power button for 10 seconds.
Let go of the power button while holding the home button.
In about 20-30 seconds iTunes will recognize it and you can restore.

ur ipod probably ran out of battery or something, so just let it charge a litttle

    No, it was fully charged.

I took it off the charger about a minute before I laid it down

Yeah, I'm gonna use my friend's tomorrow and see what happens.

If all else fails I go to an Apple store and wait another 4 weeks for a new one

    *Edit*

Alright, well I can get iTunes to recognize it in DFU mode. but my screen is still black... shouldn't I be seeing a connect to iTunes image?

Normal restore says it can't download the latest firmware
Shift restore ends up in a 1601 error

Update on the problem....it appears my brother was using it when I was gone.

He told he he dropped it while in the kitchen....could it be possible that something came loose when it hit the ground?
