i dont know if this would sound out of the question, but would it be possible if you could use a wifi connection on the ipod to give internet to a computer via usb?

    thanks,

no, it is impossible, the only reason iPhone can tether is 3G into iPhone, Out to computer

Incorrect. You can use the iPod Touch as a USB wifi antenna.

    Wi-Fi to iPod to Computer

You can use iPhone Tunnel Suite, but I don't believe that it works on 3.0. I don't have a link unfortunately.
