I have been searching online for help (so far unsuccessfully) to alleviate a problem with my first generation iPod touch. All of a sudden iTunes does not recognize that my iPod is plugged in to the pc and I can not sync it. So I am in need of help in learning how to activate the sync option on my iPod. I have the latest iTunes software installed. Do you have any advise on how to fix this problem?

    Thank you

My ipod has worked in all four USB ports however I always use the 2 that are part of the mother board.

I really hate to be negative but I have been trying unsuccessfully for 10 days to rectify my sync problem on an iPod touch that I have used without problme for 18 months! I'm amazed that no one from Apple monitors this forum in order to assist with problems like this! As I have discovered I am not alone. I have searched every site I can think of on the net used Apple help links and still no fix is to be found! The sync issue is as I have discovered a very common issue so why is there not a fix available. I'm at wits end. I guess all I can do now is visit Apple and pay them for a fix.....this is ridiculous.

I checked the driver and it's up to date. I just did a restore on the ipod then connected to laptop NOTHING, now I can't even listen to by devise!!!!!I plugged it into my desk top and it did auto start (my wifes) itunes and it was ready to sync so the problem is on my laptop? Could it be a registry problem and do I need to reinstall windows?????

Did you do a hard reset on your iPod? Maybe you can try that first and then reconnect it to the PC to see whether the iPod gets detected or not...
