    Hello everyone.

I would first like to say that my iPod Touch is stuck in like "safe mode"
    - Basically, I have to connect my Touch back to my iTunes in order for the device to function properly again.

The problem is, iTunes is not recognizing my device.

    Um, here's the story:
    - Friend let me upgrade my Touch to the new Firmware update.
    - My computer had old version of iTunes
    - I tried to update the firmware but iTunes could not recognize it.
    - Without reborting back my Touch, I upgraded my iTunes.
    - Now the new iTunes does not recognize the Touch.

I don't know if I can take this matter to Apple.
Someone please help, it has been dreadful without my music.

    What is "reborting"? Please clarify.

Try restarting your computer and using another USB port.

I've already tried a different USB Port and restarting my computer.

And sorry, let me clarify more:
When you sync your iPod with iTunes, open on iTunes your device information.
There you should see options about what to do with your iPod.

However, I can't be detailed with what the actual buttons are because I can't sync my iPod.

But yeah, my Ipod Touch is in like a lock mode.
I can't do anything with it, I have to first activate it through iTunes.

I did some searching and I will once again clarify!!

I tried updating my iPod Touch to the new firmware update, however, during the procedure, the update failed due to my iTunes not up to date to match the firmware.

Because my iPod Touch was going through the update, it was stuck in "Restore" mode. And instead of hitting the restore button with the old iTunes, I went on ahead and updated my iTunes.
Now my iTunes is up to date, but my iPod Touch is still stuck in Restore mode.
I've tried different USB Port and restarting and reinstalling iTunes but no luck.
I just can't sync my Touch with iTunes.

    Please help!

    this should work

I had the same problem today but it was updating to 3.1.1, when my computer restart and itunes didn't recognize it, I forced shutdown to the ipod by holding the home+top left button. It shut it down and immediately started it up again. This time itunes asked to restore the ipod from my backup. After running through the steps, I successfully restored my ipod and updated it. It took a while but at least the update didn't kill my computer or ipod. Hope this helps you out and anyone else who had this problem or you figured it out already.
