My mom and I traded touches since hers was on 3.1.2. I am trying to jailbreal it, but it is hetting stuck on the blackrain splashscreen and doesn't reboot. If I reboot it, it says it is in recovery mode. Rerunning blackrain doesn't do anything. Thoughts on how to get past this?

Well, the thing is I tried to reset it by holding down the home and the power button so I think it is stuck in service mode. I will try redsnow when I get home though. Thanks for the reply.

Are you disconnecting the iPod from the computer before it reboots? That can cause freezing at Mr. Hotz's face.

It never properly reboots. It's sitting on the splash screen with the white spinning thing frozen. The only way to reboot it that I know of is to hold down the home button and the power button.

Is there another way I can reset it to defaults without restoring it?

Does redsn0w even work on an iPod 3g with 3.1.2?

I was reading the readme file that comes with redsn0w, it says 2nd gen touches, but I found the answer elsewhere.

Anyways, it's only going halfway through the installation on redsn0w, at the point of "Installing Activation Bundles" and sits there - it finally restarted and it shows the screen "Connect to iTunes" and it shows it it's in recovery mode.

    What the hell man....

    :EDIT:

Here's the log file for blackra1n:
It doesn't really say anything that helps

I've tried everything, anything I find on google about it doesn't work.

It seems that there is something wrong with the iPod itself.

I decided to say screw it and restore it since I've been without it for 2 days now. It wont restore, iTunes downloads the firmware 3.1.3 and it says not compatible.

Well, returned it after trying to restore it about 5 times and got a new one. This one JB'd no problem. I installed Cydia and it says that it has SHSH on file for iphone OS 3.1.3 for this device, is this correct for JBing in the future if something were to happen and I had to restore it to the newest firmware?
