Ok my dad repairs ipod touches and iphones and he's repairing this cracked screen for my friend. He took the old ipod screen off, and when he added the new screen it will not work. He then bought a new screen, that wouldnt work either. The LCD is perfectly fine, it just doesn't respond to touch.

    2nd gen
Unknown software (he put a passcode on it)

Well software doesn't really matter. I'm not the best with replacements on iPods but what probably happened was your dad touched something accidentally that he doesn't know about which stopped the sensitivity in the screen.

I really doubt he's touched the same thing twice with different screens..

Maybe he missed a cable, ribbon, something like that. Tell him to reopen it and check some vids and also check he's done everything well
