This just happened recently with my ipod touch which I have had for about a year so far. As i am using it, the backlight on the ipod will randomly dim and stays dim no matter what i do (reboot the ipod, lock/unlocking it, restarting it). The weird thing about this is that once in awhile, the backlight comes on again and works for a bit, but then dims after a random amount of time (15 seconds-30 min).

There is no water damage that is done to it. I haven't had this problem at all until this past week. Any ideas what caused this problem or any ways I can solve this?

You have auto-brightness on. Goto settings, brightness. There you can turn it off, and you'll have the same brightness.

^ Try that, although I use Auto-Brightness. Its great if you use your iPod as an alarm and don't want to be blinded in the morning

That's the thing though...my auto-brightness is off. No matter how much i change the brightness it stays barely visible.
