Hi all! I've never owned an iphone or ipod before and want to get advice on which one to buy

I was actually considering buying an iphone as it doubles as a phone, so I won't need to carry around another device as compared to having an itouch. However, the huge price difference between iphone and itouch, as well as the monthly subscription fees turned me off. So before I buy an itouch, I want to know what other differences (and pros and cons) of iphone and itouch are, besides iphone being able to act as a phone.

Lastly, can I use apps which are meant for iphone on the itouch?

Try for the iPhone 4. Best phone in the market.

Well it doesn't matter if it's the best phone in the market as he's deciding between the iPhone and the iPod touch.

The iPhone's camera is better, it has 3G, and of course, it is also a phone and allows for texting. Some say it has a better design, with which I agree. The iPod touch on the other hand is thinner and has no monthly fees. It depends on what you want. If you can pay the monthly fees, I'd go with the iPhone. If you can't (or just don't really want to) then buy the iPod touch and carry around a separate phone.

    Such bullsh*t.

Droid. Always better than the iPhone.

Go with the iPod touch 4G. It looks pretty cool.

No one is better than the other. They each have their pros and cons.

On Androids behalf, they have way more customization.

The OP is asking whether to get an iPod touch or an iPhone, not an iPhone or Android phone.

    Back on topic.

To the threadstarter, it depends on whether you want to go for the convenience of a convergence device, or an all-out music player + personal organizer.

Personally, I prefer the iPod touch as it is FAR more affordable and also, my usage of the touch is already so heavy until I have to do a charge almost daily (hits a battery level of below 1/2 by evening!). Don't forget that this is without any phone or SMS feature!

If this is an iPhone, considering the amount of calls + text messages I make and receive daily, this guarantees an empty battery even before the day is up, lol!
