When I plugged my ipod to the wall charger it showed the battery symbol meaning the it's charging but only for a second.

It then shut off and now no matter what I do it won't turn on. I try to reboot it and also itunes does not recognize it nor my computer.

Is it my battery? because recently the battery life has decreased greatly and the back of the ipod where the battery is it's getting kind of warm. It's been warm for half an hour already.

It won't go into dfu mode either.

If the battery is completely dead meaning that I have to buy a new one, then could it still go to dfu mode maybe by using the comp power?

If not then it has to be the battery being completely dead I suppose.
