My 2g iPod Touch won't go into landscape mode when I rotate it. It was fine before I upgraded to ios 4. Is there an option I'm missing somewhere? I've restored a couple if times but that didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you enabled multitasking, check you don't have the rotation lock enabled.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have multitasking enabled - I don't think the 2g supports it.

Well you could acutally download 'features' app from cydia and
by winterboard you can enable multitasking.
However, if you havn't enabled it then I doubt the rotation lock would be the cause...
Sorry for not being helpful enough!

Hrn, try to get into a game and recalibrate the tilt sensor. Little Metal Ball lite works. Its in the options menu.

If that dont work, double tap home button and if a thingy pops up at the bottom slide your finger to the right.
There is an icon like a little rotate icon. If it has a lock in the middle, portrait orientation is locked. So just tap it to turn it off.

Best way to test it is labyrinth. If the ball doesn't even move, get your ipod replaced.

I tried both Labyrinth and Metal Balls and they work just fine. I've just restored again and the problem still persists.

What program are you using it on? Safari?

If not, it's Apple's firmware is messed up, and you should give them a call, and see if there is anything to fix it.

But it looks like a problem with the firmware. Try downgrading to 4.0, because your thingy on the right says you have 4.0.2.

    Hope it helps,

Thanks for the replies. I downloaded the Checkup app to check the accelerometer. According to that, the Z axis is stuck on -2.3, so it looks like a hardware fault afterall. I'll have to take it to genius bar to get it confirmed I guess.
