Last Nigh, I tried installing the "advanced preferences" onto my touch and messing around with a few things... however, after I clicked the home button, nothing worked. I couldn't touch the screen, I couldn't turn it off, and i couldn't press home twice. I realize now that i could've ssh'd into it, but instead I let it run out of battery. When I turned it back on, I was surprised to find out that it was working! But when I made the terrible decision to lick the sleep button, it got messed up all over again. Now the only way to turn it n is to plug it into something, and even then it wont respond to me unlocking it. Is restoring it the only option??

Thank you so much if you can help.

I would personally just try restarting it by holding sleep until the apple logo shows up.

So you managed to turn it off. Try it again. Just a pointer. It is never a good idea to lick electronics.

Though as soon as you turn it on again I would try uninstalling everything you installed last night.

The thing is that the on/off button doesn't even work, and it can't run out of battery because it goes back into sleep mode every five seconds since it's not unlocked.

And I've learned my lesson, never again will I lick my ipod
