Ipod Touch Not Connecting to Computer at all

    When i connect my ipod touch to my computer it restarts but then if i go to Setting>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Setting after that it connects once then if i try and connect it again it turns my computer off
    P.S i have already tried calling apple but their support is closed today

    i would say put it in restore mode:

    1.Make sure iPod is completely powered off.
    2.Hold the home button while its off.
    3.While holding the Home button, connect the cable. The iPod should power on.
    4.Keep holding the Home button.
    5.The Connect to iTunes image should come up.

    then resync everything back on.

    Restore.

    Try to restore in itunes.

    thanks for that now i can connect to the computer and imm restoring but i have the newest firmware on my ipod but on itunes it says ipod software update downloading

    just let it download it i think.

    i tried cooolins way but after a while the apple symbol comes back up and takes me to my springboard which then resets my computer and also i do have itunes 8

    can this be fixed or might the ipod be defective

    I have the exact same problem. apple support is clueless.

    i have found the solution as super touch said "apple support is clueless" which i agree because i rang them up. ok so what you have to do is. First check if you have a logitech cam or a hp printer and then unplug them. next go to the hp or logitech website depending on what you have. Download the update restart computer. (Optional) Then exit any apps that are using the printer or camera just to be sure. Open Itunes connect ipod and there you go fixed alternatively you can look ----> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1768
