I did a search feature, none of tips helped at all.

My iPod was working fine up until a today.
iTunes does not read the ipod, windows does not read the ipod, nothing shows up in the device manager. I used to plug it in to charge and it would sync normally.

    I am JB 3.1.2, 1st gen.

I cannot restore the ipod since I need iTunes to finish the restore. The home and sleep button combo trick doesn't work.

I can still charge the iPod, listen to music, use the apps, and watch movies.

Anyone know how I can get my PC (Windows XP SP3) to read my ipod correctly? A solution would be much appreciated, I've been trying to fix it for 4 hours!!!

I would like to add more songs to my iPod.

PS: My cousin can connect and sync his 2g JB 3.1.2 perfectly fine to my computer.

its not random, if you could ssh the music onto the ipod, then the OP could get more songs on there, damn if you don't know what someone posted means, then ask, I have hundreds of posts and have started at least a dozen of my own.

come to think of it didn't someone post the syncing over wifi youtube vid and it got put on the front page. I think it was mac only.

Uninstall and re-install the Apple Mobile Device Support, maybe?

For future reference, I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it, tried puting the device in DFU and Recovery mode, uninstalled and reinstalled apple mobile support, checked the device manager for it, it has never showed up as an apple camera, it usually came up directly into itunes and my computer recognized it. Nothing comes up at all. I can plug it up into my computer and it will just charge. I have tried my cord and my cousins, my cousin used both of our cords for his ipod touch too and it comes up in itunes normally. I have not had this problem until yesterday in which I spent 4 hours trying to figure it out. Please help me try something I have not done yet. I don't have the warranty because I baught it from someone in another state and it has worked the 3 months I've had it.

Yes, I have a 1g 8gb, I really need a solution. I have been trying alternative routes all day, I've even ssh'd my ipod to my computer, is there a way to sync it like this? Or maybe restore it while its SSH'd? I don't wont to restore because if it restores and still cant connect, then I'm out of a jailbreak and all my data on my ipod which will make it useless.
