    Hello everyone,

This is my first post on the forum, I just signed up a few minutes ago. I have actually owned my Ipod touch for quite awhile now, but honestly I havent really played with it much. I had one of the original Ipods, we had a small house fire and it was destroyed, so I got insurance money to replace it, and decided to upgrade to an Ipod touch.

Once I got the touch I realized that it was a lot like my droid as far as what I could do with it so I didnt use it much at all. Im not sure how to tell exactly which Ipod Touch I have but its the 30 gig, and the software is 4.4.3 if I read the screen correctly.

First off I know that a lot of people like to jailbreak their Ipods, just as many people prefer to "root" their droids. Having already rooted my droid I would assume that I would probably want to jailbreak my Ipod also. My first question is, can someone point me to a good thread for jailbreaking my ipod touch?

Secondly, What do I have to gain by jailbreaking my Ipod touch? Im assuming I am just allowing myself to access some files that apple doesnt want us to, so I can manipulate my touch any way I want to? Also making it possible to hack some games as I have read in the past.

Do Ipods have "ROMs" like the droid cell phones do? Any good ones that are recommended?

What other tips and pointers can you guys give me about things to play with, with my Ipod?

jailbreaking is, yes, root access to the filesystem. It opens it up to let tweaks modify it.
you can hack games, and modify many other aspects. Jailbreaking itself is legal, but what you choose to do with it may not always be.
No, there are no "roms" for ios. The closest you get to is modified ipsws, but those are for old idevices that are no longer supported. The whole modification part of the ipod is all on the one "rom", which is the default, unchangeable one.
Hope i helped. if you need anymore help just ask me :)

Jailbreaking an iDevice is nothing compared to what you can accomplish on Android. Cydia is also very easy to get lost in for beginners.

Cydia will make your device slow. Stay away from jailbreaking an iPod touch.

Not true in any way. The only way you can slow your device down by jailbreaking is by installing excessive tweaks.

It is an app that allows you to modify the system. It like an App Store for tweaks and themes that make your device more functional and cool looking. You can jailbreak using the corresponding tool listed here.
