My ipod touch has the "connect ipod touch to iTunes" screen. But when I connect my connector cord to my ipod touch and computer, iTunes either doesn't recognize my ipod, or a message pops up saying "iTunes has detected as ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." But then when I click "okay," my ipod disappears from iTunes, so I can't restore it.
I think this started right after I updated to iTunes 8, and/or updated my ipod touch to the newest version.
Any tips on what I should try doing? Thanks!

p.s. I don't know if this makes any difference, but my ipod touch is jailbroken.

Oh and also my operating system: Mac OSX version 10.5.5

    Thank you!

You need to enter it in to DFU mode:
Hold down the home and power button for 10 seconds.
Let go of the power button while holding the home button.
In about 20-30 seconds iTunes will recognize it and you can restore.
