ipod touch just wont update

    hope someone can help.

    i bought a 2nd hand ipod touch 8gb.

    the backlight is not working, and i wanted to see if a upgrade or downgrade fixes the no backlight problem.


    i have tryed everythink restore/dfu mode / reinstalling itunes. tryed diff pc.

    itunes sees the ipod and in dfu mode i press shift then try to downgrade and keep getting ipod could not be restored unknown error occured ( 20 )

    tryed quickpwn with correct firmware however it freezes.

    instead of restoring, why don't you just try update then restore?

    it means that you are not going into DFU mode properly try this.

    Step One
    Open iTunes and connect the iPod/iPhone to your PC/Mac.

    Step Two
    Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

    Step Three
    After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

    NOTE***: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, I hold down both buttons then release the Home button just before I think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo you are holding them down for too long!
