Ok well firstly i dont think this is in the right section if not please move it.

I had my jailbroken 2.1 ipod touch 1G it was working nice and fine for a few months and something happend [ i really dont know it just shut off on me]
and after that i tried to restore it with a untouched 2.1 firmware, i did this first on itunes 8 and itunes 7.5 and i have gotten ''unknown error 1604''
on both versions is my ipod just a expensive brick now or what,
Please tell me how to fix it.

try putting your ipod into recovery mode:

Power off. (If not already done (to do this hold all 2 buttons at the ipod for approx. 10 secs until it turns off)
Plug off USB-Cable from Ipod but not from the PC.
    Hold Home-Button at Ipod.
Plug in USB-Cable into iPod but still hold the home Button.
Hold the Home-Button until a Itunes logo shows up on the screen.
Open Itunes (if not already done)
A Message telling you, a ipod was found in recovery mode should appear.
    Try to Restore again.

K search your computer for the .IPSW Files and delete the actual files. And then empty recycling bin or trash and then try restoring and it will work

if your using vista, try using an XP or a mac to restore as your computer may have something wrong with its usb ports.

delete the .ipsw files that look like Lego bricks kinda and then empty your recycle
bin or trash and then try again

If it still doesnt work, try restoring it at another computer or find a friend that would restore it for you. i went over to my friends house and it worked first time
