I got an IPOD of ebay and it was advertised as "Stuck in Recovery mode". I've tried everything and I cant get my computer or itunes to recognize the Ipod. Its a IPOD Touch 1G. I've upgraded ITunes, downgraded it, tried restarting, updated windows. Everything. Is the IPOD completely broken?

Try using ibrickr to get out of recovery mode. It's worked for me on several occassions. LINK

Instructions I've lifted from user "chucktwelve" on this forum are as follows:

    "Download iBrickr v.0.91
    Extract the file
    open iBrickr.exe
Click boot iphone or wtvr (same as ipod)
    wait a bit
ipod screen will turn red or green
if red it is fixing itself and will be up and running in a sec
if green somethings wrong and it must be restored using itunes"

Also, when my computers off and I turn it on with my IPOD plugged in, it turns the IPod on so i'm asuming that is recognizes it somehow
