It asks for my iPod's IP, but... I don't have wireless internet running from my computer.

I live on campus and I get wireless from the University, so obviously the program won't be finding my iPod's IP under my network.

Is this a NEEDED step, or is there a workaround?

settings, wifi, your network name - and then tap the blue circle with a white triangle to show your IP. remember, you are using DHCP so your IP may change every time you connect.

if you have any knowledge of the other devices on the network, you could try to assign a static IP if permitted, some routers simply wont route to you if your IP didnt come from them for security reasons.

I understand how to see the IP, but it's like 192.168.1.201, and that's a local IP of the universities wireless network, my computer can't connect to my iPod though the network, because the iPod is on WiFi and my computer is directly wired, without a WiFi adapter.

    try go safari, http://www.whatismyip.com

If you cannot connect, fear not, no need to start all over.
Open the bat file with notepad, and look for this line:
    set IP=

delete everything above that line, but keep that line and everything after it, save, and run the bat again to continue where you left off.

oh, you are on two seperate networks

use your laptop to create a wireless Ad-Hoc network, and have the iPod connect to that network.

I don't have a laptop, and my computer doesn't have a wireless card.
    Like I said, I'm hardwired.

I used touchfree to actually install the program, and that works well..
    But now I'm wondering.

Everyone says all this stuff about SSHing to your iPod and doing such and such... is there a way to do the same thing without connecting to an IP? Like, can I do it just through the USB connection to the iPod?

Unfortunately not. You will need to be able to connect via Wifi to do some things w/ it. IT may be benefitial to just borrow a buddy's laptop for 1/2 hr to set up everything you need, and buy your buddy lunch.
