It would be insanely easy to make a iPod Touch into a iPhone, and with the help of someone on this site who has an iPhone and is willing to contribute.

    NOTICE:
This is just a test, (for all that I know) it has never been done before.
This will not modify anything, just add a dialer and SMS application to your iPod if you activate it on Pwnage tool giving it the rights of a 2g iPhone this could work, this is a mere idea, this is at your own risk!

THIS IS UNTESTED TRY AT OWN RISK!

    Step by Step instructions-

If you have a iphone and would like to contribute go to step one.
If you have an iPod Touch and would like to make a iPhone go to step 4.

1.Open your SSH (Cyberduck, Fugu) and go to the root menu.
2.Go to the Applications folder and copy Dialer and SMS folders to the Desktop (or wherever you will easily find them.)
3.Post right below this with the attached SMS and Dialer folders.
4.Once a contributer has posted drag the two folders into the/Applications folder via SFTP using username root and password alpine.
5.Disconnect your iPod Touch from your computers and turn them off.
6.Turn your new iPhone on and use the new Pwnage Tool to activate it.
    7. If there are any other folders such as networking or any of that on the iphone that are not on the iPod and would be important to make it a iPhone please notify me with a PM.

Please do not post on this thread unless you are contributing to the idea.

The applications you would be looking for would be MobileSMS.app(Texting app) and MobilePhone.app(The whole phone app). The phone app includes contacts, dialer, favorites, and voicemail. As for your 'activation' part for the iPod Touch, it's not possible. The iPod touch has no SIM card, so no texts or phone calls would be able to get to it. Meaning it wouldn't have a number(ie. +1 800 123 4567). The only thing you would get would be the phone app and the sms app, which pretty much have no use on the iPod Touch. But the closest thing to 'activation' on the iPod Touch would be VOIP.

LOL. No speaker or earpiece, exactly how is the phone going to work on the iPod touch?
