So, about a few days ago, my iPod's Home button stopped working. I didn't do anything to cause it. But one day I noticed that when I tapped it, sometimes it brought up music controls, and sometimes it just doesn't do anything. And today it worked for like....2 minutes, then stopped again. And right now it is dead.

    So, my question is...

If I go to a Retail store, since I'm under warranty, will they try to repair it, or give me a new one?

Should just give you a refurb. Had same problem and was out with new one in less than 10 mins

pretty sure they would give you a new one since its something that is unrepairable unless sent to apple, which is a decent possibility aswell.

Apple will easily take care of this.

You should walk out with a new one.

I don't really trust anything refurbished though. Every time I bought something refurbished, it seemed to break really quickly.

I don't know if it is unrepairable, it *might* just be jammed.
But, eh, I'll go this weekend to see what they say, if they offer a refurbished one, I'll just refuse and send it in for repair.

Unfortunately this seems to be an all to common fault with the home button on 1g's ( a Google search will give you results that many other people have had this problem) hence the completely re-engineered home button on the 2g's.

If you go to an Apple store they will be knowledgable of this fact and you won't have a problem at all. Just remember as yours was JB'n to do a restore and remove all traces.

Enjoy your new iPod when you get it.
