So i'm getting ready for the annual ski trip, but this year i'll have my trusty Touch with me. I want to take it up on the slopes, but i'm hesitant for a couple of reasons and want to get everyone's opinion before I risk coming back with an iIceBrick.

    First of all, my concerns:
    1. The cold, nothing crazy, but 15 - 30 degrees all day long.
    *Apple recommends 32 - 95 degrees.
    2. The altitude, 12,000 ft.
    *Apple recommends 10,000 ft.
    3. The fact that my brother said his iPod crapped out last year on the mountain.

So does anyone have experience with the snow and Ipods? At this point, i've just talked myself out of it, but i'm toying with the idea of just buying a shuffle, and if it bites the dust i'll only be out half of what it costs for one day of skiing.

Thanks for any and all input.

    I wouldnt risk it.
I would fall and tear it up.
    Just buy a shuffle.

The real questions are: Do you really want to risk it? Can you afford to risk it?

    1. No
    2. Yes, but if I killed it I'd switch to an iPhone.

    Who else thinks i'm crazy?

That really belongs on it's own thread, but oh well. I'll forgive you if you vote.

I would not take the chance at all. I mean do you really want to lose it or break it. I mean you could take it up to listen to in your lodge or when you arent skiing but i wouldnt actually ski with it i would just buy something cheap to listen to music while you are skiing or just enjoy natures noises.

I'm going skiing this year, and with brand new skii equippment, I would hardly risk taking an expensive item up there... I'd actually enjoy the skiing without little white (or whatever) earbuds to keep me entrtained. It's about the skiing for me, and that's it. No need for music or videos, unless I could take it on the drive there and back (which I wouldn't want it to get stolen anyways, so I wouldn't take it up).

No I don't want to lose or break it.
I've been enjoying natures noises every year for as long as I can remember and never needed music but I thought i'd give it a try.
