    Hi there,

A friend of mine put (what was)the latest software on my iPod Touch OS 3.1.2 because I wasn't able too because the iPod was generation 1.

This has been fine for a while now, until now there's a new version of the os & iTunes:
    - I'm unable to update it.
    - The new version of iTunes on my new laptop won't recognise my iPod.
    - I can't restore it on the working iTunes either. It just keeps saying "error occurred" the same as when I try to update the software.

I'm assuming this is because gen 1 isn't meant to have os 3 on it.

I'm thinking either putting the latest os on there (which I have no idea how) or trying to put it back to the original one..

Any advice or help would be great!

    Thanks,
    Scarlet

does itunes recognize the ipod? if so, go through the ITF forums and find some firmware links. then, use alt restore or shift restore and select your firmware. that way, you can downgrade your ipod touch firmware. Try going to the downgrading firmware threads

. If your computer CANT recognize it, then try putting it in DFU mode (search online). then restore. good luck
