I have the old Ipod touch, I've been using it for about 6 months now

I was trying to update my ipod touch last night and then I got an error in itunes, I didn't even read the error message, itunes just ejected my ipod touch that it didn't give me the time to do anything.

Well, so I waited for it to restart or something but no use, I left it for about 10 minutes but nothing was changing, so I tried to power on the ipod manually after removing the cable from it, It started and showed me the apple logo and then this http://i37.tinypic.com/sb0u0w.jpg So I reconnected it to my pc and when Itunes opened up it gave me this error: http://i35.tinypic.com/5o8acg.jpg
(this is the first error I got from my ipod touch since I purchased it)

I tried restarting it manually over and over again but it keeps showing me the same thing http://i37.tinypic.com/sb0u0w.jpg

you'd say, just restore it and save myself the effort, the problem is, if I restore my ipod, everything will be deleted, my ipod touch is filled with 14 GB of songs and videos that do not exist on my pc and I don't have a back up of them, so restoring is not an option for me

it has been 2 days since this happened and I'm not able to find a solution for it and if it matters; I never jailbroke it, it is 100% clean, just like I bought it, I didn't even install any app or game on it or tried modifying it by anyway, I'm using windows vista ultimate 64 bit I have an xp 32 bit pro machine and I get the same error from both the computers, tried removing itunes and then installing it back on, but it didn't work.

I know this might be the wrong section, but please guys, help!

Hopefully you have SSH installed or you use something like iphonebrowser via USB to copy your iTunes_Control folder with your music. You can't escape from that recovery mode.

However if you are on 1.1.4 or lower you may be able to use advanced features on Ziphone to kick it into Normal Mode and then copy music and restore.

Hi, I tried that iphonebrowser thingy but it failed to detect my ipod touch in both PCs, the vista and xp ones.

And what about the Ziphone? do you have a tutorial or a link that explains how to do it? thanks.
