Up until recently, my iPod Touch has been able to be recognized in iTunes. Now, iTunes does not recognize it.
"iTunes could not connect to this iPod because an unknown error occured (0xE8000022)."
My computer has no problem identifying it, as I can see it in My Computer.
At times I would put it into DFU mode to try restoring it, but it fails and gives me error code (1601). I have tried plugging it into other computers, but still it does not work. Other computers recognize the iPod, but iTunes itself cannot discover it.
I upgraded to the latest iTunes(9.1.1.12) in hopes of that fixing the problem, but it did not. And am using 3.1.2.

So basically I can put it into DFU mode and out of it, and I can try restoring it but it won't work because I get an error code 1601. If I don't do that and plug my iPod in normally and open iTunes, I get the error code 0xE8000022.

Any tips? Stories of your own? Words of wisdom? Anything?!
    Thank you for your help.

I have used different USB cords and still no results.
I have tried plugging it into other computers, but still it does not work. Other computers recognize the iPod, but iTunes itself cannot discover it.

Have you tried updating to the lastest iTunes? or reinstalling iTunes completely?

Yes I have tried reinstalling iTunes completely as well, but that did not fix the problem either.

    Try reinstalling iTunes helper.

I'm not really sure what iTunes helper is, but if it helps I uninstalled as well as reinstalled everything, but it still did not work.
