because i keep having problems with syncing my ipod touch, i decided to do a restore and ended with the itunes icon and image of the usb cable. even when i re power the ipod touch the display is still the itunes icon and usb cable image.

still went on to restore the ipod touch through itunes but the prompt came out with error message 1604. thinking that it is a common error, i removed itunes and all apple related programs and reinstall itunes again. then i did the restore again and to receive the error message 2002 that says the ipod cannot be restored.

i am at my wits end, i'm not familiar with ipod touch at all.

Download iBrickr to get it out of restore... then try to restore again... if you get error 1604 otr 1600 or 1602 again change usb drives...

i tried the ibrickr and it was unable to detect the ipod touch, only after the i hold both the home and sleep button then release the sleep button when the apple icon shows up then was it able to detect recovery mode. i tried both links:

boot the phone: still no iphone connected.

downgrade to 1.0.2: first time i did it, it hanged at 99.7% complete. the second time i tried it it prompts me to hold on while putting the iphone into special DFU mode. but still nothing happens

and still seeing the same display.

Try entering DFU mode and restoring.

Hold the home and power button until it shuits off. Exactly two seconds later let go of the power button and continue holding the home button for 40 seconds or until itunes recognizes it.

iPhuc is standard .exe. If you are on a Mac it wont work.

i'm still trying to tinkle around with the ipod touch.

after another round of the hold sleep and home button, holding the shift key on the prompt to restore in itunes, apparently it worked and was restored back to factory settings. so overjoyed i thought my problem must be gone.

in the end the improved result is seeing the battery meter together with the itunes icon and the usb cable still displaying. and at the very least, when i hold the sleep and home button this time round, the usual slider to power off returns.

i don't know whether to laugh or what in this weird situation.
