After I updated my iPod software to 2.1, my iPod touch was no longer is recognized on any computer running iTunes. My other iPod devices work fine. The USB driver is up to date and shows the device. I have reinstalled my iTunes software several times and it is running the latest version 8.0.1.11. I have been on hold with Apple (iTunes) support for almost 30 minutes. The first level tech could not help me and verified that I am doing everything correctly. Does anyone have a clue how to get my device to show up again or how I can reload the software on my device while I am unable to see it in iTunes?

You need to enter it in to DFU mode:
Hold down the home and power button for 10 seconds.
Let go of the power button while holding the home button.
In about 20-30 seconds iTunes will recognize it and you can restore.
