Okay, so I have a problem. My iPod is a 2G model, 8GB. My iTunes displays my available capacity as 6.72GB, my About screen in the Settings menu displays it as 6.7GB. While I understand that the phone's OS and other stuff takes up memory, but when I opened up Cydia, it told me that the smaller partition took up only 800MB. The larger partition, of course, told me 6.7GB, but if you add up the numbers, you get 7.5GB. I'm just curious, where did my half a gigabyte disappear to?

Also, while we're at this subject, how much memory do you guys like to leave on your iPods/iPhones, and reason being?

    Thank you.

The read-only hardware stuff that can't be over-written and used just to boot your device is on the 500 megs
