So I was using my iPod Touch in the Safari app and I looked away from the screen for a minute. When I looked back the screen was black and none of my buttons work. I literally can't do anything like put it into DFU mode or Recovery Mode through button presses, and my computer won't read it. Also, I'm not even jailbroken. Hardware issue?

That's strange. Take it to a local Apple store.

^ Check that. If not then go see Apple if youve got a warranty, and if not, then give it a couple of days to see if it ever works and then you can give up.

Yeah it's definitely charged. It wasn't even close to empty. It was like one little notch down. Also even if it was depleted it would still sense being plugged into a charger. Mine won't even do that. So, I suppose the general consensus is Apple Store then huh?

    Yep.
If it wasnt jailbroken then you couldnt have caused this.

when you shake it do you hear a sound if you hear a sound then its broken from the inside not a hardware failure .

If it is broken on the inside then it IS a hardware failure.
