    My Ipod is Running 3.0.

Lately I've been having a strange problem. Once in a while the Backlight turns off completely. At first I thought my ipod was freezing. But a closer look indicates that the iPod is still on, with absolutely no backlight. After pressing the hold button a couple of times the backlight turns back on. The backlight randomly turns off with no warning and comes back on whenever it feels like unless I alternate sleep mode again. Auto-brightness is off. What could the problem be?

I had this problem and got really scared. I wasn't sure if it was totally breaking or what. I messed around with the auto brightness settings and all that but nothing really seemed to fix the problem. After a bit of forum searching I came across a post where a user pressed down a bit hard on the bottom left of his ipod touch. At this point the backlight would come back on and it would be ok. I did this and it worked but backlight every so often shut off again.

If anything I first noticed it when I bought a FM transmitter for my car. The light would shut off but at first I thought it was just the glare or something. I've probably only dropped my touch twice since I got it 10 months ago.

Recently I haven't had the problem at all. The light works just fine and no problems shutting off in the middle of browsing or watching a video. So I have really no idea what is going on but for now the problem isn't affecting my ipod touch activities.

Now my Backlight is completely non-functional...

...Well at least I have that Bestbuy warranty. Now to wait for the touch 3g.

I tried it after the backlight stopped completely. It's alright. Now if the Ipod touch 3g comes out soon I can get it for a low price. I'm pretty sure it'll be more than $229.
