Just incase you didn't know, the alarm on your iPod Touch (2G for sure, not 100% sure about 1G) uses the same format sound file as ringtones on an iPhone. So, if you wanted to, you could go into the Ringtones section in Cydia, download a Ringtone, and then go into your alarm, go to edit, and when you choose your desired sound, the ringtone you just downloaded will be there and able to be used as an alarm. If you think that the factory sounds aren't enough for you/aren't what you desire, then there's a pretty big selection in the Ringtones section to choose from. Hope I helped someone!

3.0 Removed all Ringtones except "Marimba". It sucks.

And as to making your own songs/sounds into alarms, just take the sound file, and change the file extension to .M4R, SSH into your iPod, and then drop it into /private/var/stash/Ringtones.xxxxxx (the x is a random serial that varies from iPod to iPod) and respring, then it should be in there.

Has anyone tried this on a 1G?

I don't think it can be done.....although we only have a beeper in ours, why can't we get sound from a speaker dock or headphone jack AUX cable.
