The screen was frozen the other night and i tried to turn it off and it would not respond when i tried to move the red bar to turn it off. It died over night and then the next morning i plugged it in for a long time and when i got back to it and tried to turn it on nothing happened. It is not jailbroken or anything like that. I have tried to put it in DFU but it wont power on or anything. I have tried a different cord and nothing.

Try holding both the power and home buttons for 10 seconds.
Let go of both of them and now try to turn it on as normal.

Btw when you put it in DFU mode it won't look like it's on.
As long as it's connected to you computer iTunes should detect it.

Try plugging it in to your PC for a while to let it charge...then try DFU mode. Unless you have a fatal hardware fault DFU will always work.
How are you trying to put it into DFU mode? Does your PC give any errors at all?

I actually do have a PC error--
    AppleSyncNotifier.exe -System Error
    CoreFoundation.dll missing

But i haven't synced my ipod for a while though.

I tried holding down both the sleep/wake button and the home for 10 seconds and then releasing the sleep/wake button.(while plugged into the computer)
