I was talking to an Apple rep and they said the ipod touch will only vibrate when there is a facetime invite and they said it will not be for gaming. That doesnt make any sense. What do you think?

I can understand that. Maybe it's a small viabrate motor, or maybe it could be unlocked via a update like Bluetooth

Meh, I don't care too much about vibration. I mean, it's a nice feature, but I rarely ever leave my iPod on with wifi on. So if I am my iPod's wifi, I am usually paying attention to what's going on.

I was told there would be apps to implement them, but as long as the vibrating gizmo is in the device, it can be used however we want, come jailbreak time.

I don't care about vibration too much either, really. But nice to have.

Don't listen to anything the Representitives say. They didn't even know the iPod Touch 4G had FaceTime.

I'm pretty sure that this vibrator motor will be for all notifications in general in addition to FaceTime. If it was only for FaceTime, that would be dumb even if you had a loud speaker, some of the notifications are rather quite on an iPod (like new mail messages).

...and another rep said it would be available outside of facetime.

Protip: Apple chat representatives are not reliable sources.

Go to the store and the select the iPod or whatever.. then in the blue box in the top left there should be the 1-800-MYAPPLE number and then next to it should the the Chat option with a small speech bubble next to it.

If there is a motor inside but supports only FaceTime, I'm pretty sure there will be a jailbreak tweak through which we can use it for everything
