whenever i try to restore i get the 1611 error. i tried jailbreaking with redsnow(sadly i didn't know it didn't work with 3g ipod touches) so now my ipod is now stuck on the restore screen. So is there a fix for it?

3rd Gen iPods are have a tethered jailbreak so just running blacra1n to boot it should work. Have you tried DFU restore?
