    Hello,

First off, I would like to thank those who read this thread and help a guy out. I just recently downgraded back to 3.1.2 and I used blackra1n to get a tethered jailbreak for my iPod Touch 3G. I am going to install Cydia, but after that I don't know what to get or what to do. I have absolutely no applications on my iPod Touch, I have pictures and a few songs... Can anyone help a new guy?

    Thank you,
    Blake-

Of course! OK, get the basics first.. OpenSSH, Winterboard, MobileTerminal, SBSettings. Then, get stuff like dTunes and other jailbroken apps. TBH, I'm thinking to leave the jailbreaking scene =/, why not try being a normal iPT user?

iFile - browse inner files and folders
dTunes - download manager and media player
Transform to iPod - mixes music and video into the iPod icon like iPhone
PkgBackup - backup all of your Cydia downloads
Backgrounder - run applications in the background
Intelliscreen - information on your lockscreen
Poof - hide and un-hide applications

OpenSSH - file transfer via computer

    And many more!

I have tried it, it's boring. I thought I would give it a try being jailbroken.

What about the sources and stuff, what do I do with those? I have no clue what to do..

Well, I haven't jailbroken for a little bit, but SBSettings, Winterboard, dTunes, if you plan on doing anything in-depth, Mobile Terminal.

From there, I'd suggest playing with themes, widgets, etc.

And @Coca Cola: I don't jailbreak anymore, just because the functionality you gain now, versus the functionality you gained in 1.x is drastically smaller; in a nutshell, non-Apple approved apps, themes, and the Mobile Terminal (or else, the abiltiy to go deep in the OS).

I'll still jailbreak occasionally, and play around with it, theme my iPod, whatever, but I always end up going back to stock firmware.

I need pictures, and a step by step deal here. Unless someone can take me through it in real time, aka, Windows Live?

    @Coca Cola- Nice avvy
@Blake- You can download several themes, many good ones are on here.

You could go to cydia or rock and look at all the tweaks, and apps:
Backgrounder, winterboard, sbsettings, live clock, live weather, fve column springboard, iPod pop (iPod controls come up w/ double press of home button), lockdown (locks apps), makeitmine (custom banner/carrier name), proswitcher, stack. You can also run emulators (Do not ask for roms on here).

    You can also use SSH:

I have Supreme Prefs 3.0 but from a repo that cannot be named here. Check out the Tutorials section and some other places in the forum. Lots of info if you just look around
