    Hello,

My ipod touch 3g which was on 3.1.3 randomly went into its recovery mode yesterday. When i plugged it in itunes it said i needed to restore it and it also updated the firmware. But after the files were extracted for the update, and when the apple logo came on the touch to show it was updating, i got an error stating that it cannot come out of recovery mode. It is jailbroken and now i cant put it back to 3.1.3 because it is technically on 4.0 and wont downgrade. I get the error 28.

What can i do to make it work again?

    Thanks for any future help!

Oh sh*t...error 28...I just went through hell and back with my ipod touch. It was an MC model 8gb and i also got error 28. To be honest, I have no idea how it worked out, but it randomly resprung itself and works great again. Just be patient and pray that it was blessed like mine. Error 28 is supposed to be a "hardware" problem, but I honestly doubt thats what it is. If all goes wrong for you, just call Apple and see how they will handle it.

hm...idk but here are the steps taht were on the site

Step 1. Turn off your iPhone.

Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.

Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.

Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that its in restore mode.

im kinda lost as to what to do now, i think im able to go into DFU mode and i restore it to 4.0 but i keep getting error 28, is it because of the jailbreak?]

Basically, what would happen if u try updating a jailbroken ipod touch to 4.0? will it brick the system or will it just delete the jailbreak and function normally?
