So I have an old 2nd gen iPod touch and I was wondering what would happen if I put the developer preview of iOS 5 (For the 3rd gen iPT) on my iPod. Would it brick it or just make my ipod incredibly slow?

I know, but I was wondering why it's impossible. Like, what would happen if I did put it on my iPod?

iTunes knows that you have a iPod Touch 2G. It won't let you. Those are two totally different devices.

I see... Is there any way to trick iTunes?

Sadly no. It also has something to do with something called ARM 6 and ARM 7. I think...

The iPod 2nd gens have an entirely different bootrom and processor. It won't let you install it even if you managed to "trick" iTunes...sorry.
