I've just been notified that the second-generation iPod touch and iPhone 3G will not get Apple's upcoming software update. Now I feel like my iPod's expired.

Thats just what apple likes to do just to get you to upgrade.

With the multi touch gestures that may come to iPod's... It may need a bit of ram or whatever. As the iPod Touch 2G has the smallest amount. And besides, it'll be discontinued in time anyway with iOS 5. What else is there apart from a jailbreak fix to add for iPhone 3G/iPod Touch 2G. Since most of the stuff that could be updated (Wallpapers, multitasking whatnot) is disabled.

its kinda misleading to non-fans, because they think that the 2nd gen is 3rd, so apple could get some rage going on.

Well they can just facepalm their selves because they decided to upgrade the bootrom instead of making a whole new 8GB

May I ask why do you want 4.3 on your 2nd gen device? If 4.0 was a p.o.s on them, I can't imagine how terrible 4.3 would be on them

In a happy world, all iDevices would be on the latest firmware, but as technology progresses, things get obsolete. I wish you luck on trying to port 4.3 to 2nd gen devices, but I doubt it will work, and if it does, have fun with the lag.

Lol, you have made my day.

And yeah, iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G is basically "expired"

If I were you, sell it now before other people who arent aware it is "expired" find out, that's what I did.
