    Rename the "hosts" file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc to "hosts.bak"
    Update iTunes to the latest
    Reboot your computer
    Enter Pwned DFU mode
    Click Restore in iTunes (don't select an IPSW)
    This will work. If not, try on a different computer.

    Both times you didn't select an IPSW, you just clicked Restore without holding SHIFT? That is what you need to do. Try on more computers if you can...

    i've tried both, holding shift and just clicking restore.. i usually get error 1600-1604.. maybe something is wrong with my host files.. plz help? heres my host files

    Code:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    #      102.54.94.97    rhino.acme.com          # source server
    #      38.25.63.10    x.acme.com              # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    #    127.0.0.1      localhost
    #    ::1            localhost

    When there is a #, it comments out the line. In your case all the hosts file is going to do is cause you problems. This is why I advised you to rename it to hosts.bak, so iTunes doesn't have a problem with SHSH blobs. I think you are having a problem with either IPSW corruption or hardware failure. The easiest way to solve the IPSW corruption is to try having iTunes download a fresh IPSW from Apple, on different computers. I would advise you to try restoring from DFU and Recovery Mode on as many computers as you can. If you get a 16xx error every time, you have a hardware problem.

    The computer does not create a new hosts file, which is what we want. If you try many computers and get the same result, that would mean a hardware failure of the iPod.

    Crap.. is there a way to fix hardware failure? :{
    WEll, the thing is, also is that i managed to get it into DFU mode using that restore with editting the hex code and it loaded completely with no errors until the end and it got me into dfu mode..

    There is no reason why that wouldn't work to get you into DFU mode, but it won't help with restoring. Have you tried Recovery Mode?
