Alright, so the deal is this. A 1 year old iTouch of mine recently greeted me with a white screen. This was after simply doing some yard work with it in my pocket, nothing special. A forced reboot did not fix it, nor did a restore. I was still able to hit the sleep button to turn the screen on and off, but that was about it. I then ordered a new LCD, thinking it was the issue, but that did nothing, the new LCD is just as white as the old one.
    So I have ruled out:

    Software
    LCD

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Bad board is my guess. The connector to be more specific. I'd get it replaced.

I heard stories of 1Gs iPod Touch getting a white screen after the battery life time ran out
So it may be at battery problem, try to reboot your iPod while plugged on the wall
