I recently bought an external backup battery for my ipod touch 2G, only to realise that the description of the item says it is not compatible with the ipod touch 2G. See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320422780680&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I've spoken to the seller who advises that the battery is incompatible. The external battery supplied has an output of 5V 700mA max.

Can someone confirm that the battery is incompatible, and explain why? What would happen if I tried to use it?

I'd be perfectly happy to return the battery, except that it is now too late for me to get an alternative before I go on my travels shortly.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Well, I can't confirm it, but since the battery outputs 5v 700mA max, then maybe the ipod touch 2g requires more?
I'm not sure, but probably something along those lines

Clee and Hacker, thanks very much for your help, I'll give it go.

Squirrel. If that's all you can offer to a legitimate question, I suggest you don't bother. FYI, I didn't want to risk toasting the ipod. The other posters have suggested it won't. Thankfully, they were more constructive.
